Duct Sanitizing & Deodorizing Windsor, ON
An odour associated with ductwork does not by itself show where the source is or whether treatment is appropriate. For a Windsor property, first describe when the smell occurs and whether it is linked to smoke, cooking, a past occupant, or a period when the system was shut down. Ask that accessible debris be cleaned before any product is applied. Request the product name, label directions, application method, and re-entry guidance so the proposed treatment is clear and specific.
Does an odour appear when the system starts?
Note when and where the smell occurs, and consider whether its source may be outside the duct system. Ask whether cleaning comes first, which product is proposed, and what its label says about application and room use.
Describe the odour history and scope
Smoke, cooking residue, or previous use may leave material on duct surfaces, but an odour can also originate elsewhere in the home. Record when it began, which rooms are affected, and whether it changes with fan operation. This context helps determine whether duct inspection or cleaning is relevant before considering treatment, rather than applying a product based on smell alone.
Require cleaning before treatment
Applying a product over dust can leave the underlying material in place and prevent contact with the intended surface. Ask whether the duct system will first be cleaned and which surfaces are included in any later application. Clarify that treatment is not a substitute for finding an ongoing odour source, and compare the proposed method with the product's label directions.
Review the product label and records
Before agreeing to treatment, request the product name and check its label for permitted uses, application rates, ventilation instructions, and when rooms may be used again. Ask how the application will be recorded and whether the system fan is involved. Clear documentation helps you understand what was applied, while avoiding unsupported expectations about health effects or permanent odour removal.
